From the superintendent:
August 2010
Dear Germantown Families!
Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year! We are all looking forward to a wonderful school year serving students and continuing the tradition of excellence in Germantown Schools.
Being strategic in our planning for the future of Germantown School will be a focus this year. And, in order to do that, we will need your help! As a first leadership opportunity, I would like you to consider volunteering for a Strategic Planning Committee or suggesting a community member you think may be a good representative. The team will be made up of about twenty-five people including teachers, custodians, secretarial staff, aides, food service professionals, community members (who may not have children in our schools), parents of current students, students, board members, and administrative staff. The team will conduct a thorough review of the district, look at best practices in education, provide a recommendation to the school board for a unified mission, vision and values document, propose a future direction (strategic objectives), and propose action plans that get us there. Strategic Planning team members will also be liaisons for the system to help grow an understanding and communicate about their progress throughout the year. If you have interest in this or would like to share the name of someone who you believe can contribute positively to this effort, please contact Jayne Borst at the district office.
Again, I am very excited to join the staff of Germantown Schools, with their outstanding credentials and wonderful hearts, in working with your children. Please know that you are welcome to visit your local school anytime and I look forward to meeting you. We are all looking forward to a wonderful school year. Go Warhawks!
